As Scotland’s national conservatoire, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland is uniquely placed to offer a once-in-a-lifetime student experience to be part of the Edinburgh Festivals.

The Edinburgh International Festival and Edinburgh Festival Fringe are internationally-renowned for bringing the world’s most exciting and creative artists to Scotland’s capital. More than 400,000 people flock to the festivals each year and we are proud to see RCS students, staff and alumni perform to packed venues throughout the month of August.

Each year students from our highly respected MA Musical Theatre programme perform three fully-produced works as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, including one main stage show held at the Assembly Hall and two new works which receive their world premieres at the Festival. These shows epitomise the collaborative nature of RCS with students from music and production degrees also working to create truly memorable musical theatre experiences.

This month-long run of performance is a unique offering to the Musical Theatre Masters programme at RCS. Students travel from across the globe to study this programme at RCS and to ensure they are part of this exclusive opportunity at the centre of the world’s largest and most famous arts festival.

Previous RCS productions performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe include Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Into the Woods9 to 5 and Avenue Q.

The experience of performing on such an international stage and the connections made allow RCS students to flourish – and for many it is the first of a long working relationship with the Edinburgh Festivals.
